A day in the Pennines

I've always felt an affinity with the Pennines and half my ancestors came from the Derbyshire/Yorkshire area.

Yesterday, A and S took me to Holmfirth. It's well known as the setting for 'Last of the Summer Wine. I never liked the show but loved the scenery.

What a beautiful region! Some of it is so stark and wild and beautiful, but the towns and more wooded hills are lovely as well. Isn't it interesting that there are places in the world where you feel that ancestral connection? I feel that way when I see photos of England, even though I've never been. But between knowing I have mostly English ancestry and that I live in an area that looks very similar, I look at photos of England feel like it could easily be home.

Thank you. I felt drawn to the area years before I knew I was connected as if I had some ancestral memory. I also love the country lanes in my own county. You obviously feel your roots too.
