Torches filled the Merethrond with glowing light, which together with the candles, illuminated the hall. Evergreens: holly, yew, pine, and mistletoe decorated the walls for the Mettarë feast, leafy boughs fresh scented as a forest glade.
Dancers swirled around the room, the ladies bright as blossoms in silks and glittering jewels.
“May I have this dance?”
She smiled and took his hand.
Oblivious to the splendour around him, Aragorn had eyes only for his lady. The gems adorning Arwen’s hair glittered in the torchlight. Swirling in her crimson gown, she seemed almost to glow, her smiling eyes brighter than stars.
