Linda, it's not the quality of your writing that affects the comments it's the pressure of our days. I don't believe I have ever read a finished story of yours that isn't a polished, well plotted, most often free flowing, easy to read, wonderfully descriptive word movie. Sometimes I take it for granted that you know you are so much better than 90% of fan fiction writers, you keep tenses and gender straight more often, you remember to close quotes, you keep most sounds like what I meant spelled so that it really is the word that fit the sentence. (Okay, once in a great while you slip up (teitho). )
