I was interested to read this article in the paper the other day about protective underwear for soldiers, which used silk.

BCB International, a military accessories provider based in Cardiff, will soon be selling ‘blast boxers’ to the public for less than £60 a pair in knitted Kevlar.
The MoD is looking at a version of the pants which has a panel made of tightly-woven silk to protect the most vulnerable areas. Used in this way, silk is very strong yet more flexible than Kevlar

It seems there is nothing new under the sun as Ghenghis Khan's warriors wore silk shirts for protection which inspired some plot features in my stories.

I enjoyed reading this interview the other day in which a journalist tries to learn to use a bow. Maybe the article might be useful to anyone say, wanting to write about Faramir's first archery lessons who has not tried archery.

You are invited to visit Aragorn's herb garden and see where Eldarion was playing

I came across all these plants on a patch of wasteground a couple of hours ago. I've passed them many times without looking, but in days gone by they would have been see as a cure for a wide variety of health problems.Interestingly enough, last week the local paper interviewed an old man of 103 who attributed his long life to drinking cordials of dandelion, burdock and nettle.

Over the last few days my newspaper had a couple of articles I thought might help with inspiration for writing.

This one is about a Tudor Christmas(ideas for feasts in Gondor, maybe?)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1236809/Stuffed-peacock-fake-snow-lashings-dancing-girls--Henry-VIII-VERY-merry-Christmas-indeed.html

and this is about cold water swimming, which is something we often make our heroes endure!

I'm clueless at graphics so have to rely on my own photos to illustrate my stories.

These are a few illustrations for "A Time to Reap", though actually all are views taken withing a 50 mile radius of my home! If anyone is printing out the story, they are welcome to add them.
The thoughts of these places helped inspire the story.

The dark view of the lake is maybe more relevant to the lake in the recent story "Chance" I wrote for the AA Group.

On the mountain

The lake

The river bank where the spider dwells

The grasses which lead to the play fight.
